[Closed] Gloworm X2 repair in UK?

Just bought a Gloworm X2 from the classifieds here.

It arrived today but sadly doesnt switch on, have checked the battery with another light and the battery is fine.
I suspect the cable going into the head unit has maybe detached inside.

I've messaged the seller but still not heard back from them yet. I have no reason to believe they have deliberately swindled me or anything! These things happen.

While waiting for a response I've wondered if it would be cheap and easy to fix. Is there anyone in the UK I could send it to for repair?
If I could get it fixed without spending too much it might be less hassle than returning it.

Any pointers?

Cheers

I had this with a Gloworm X2.
Is it the one with the switch on a Y-shaped lead - i.e. a spur off the main cable?
If so the wires had come loose in the junction and it wouldn't switch on, quite common apparently.

I was quoted about £45 to fix as it was out of warranty, I think it was Ison I spoke to.
But in the end I stripped the casing off the junction and re-soldered it myself. Then wrapped it up in electrical tape first and then self-amalgamating tape. Looked a bit crap, but worked.

Nice lights, but the cable join is a poor design IMO.

I fixed mine, took the cap off stripped the wires then connected them and heatshrinked them to make sure they stayed connected.
put the cap back on and put some sealant around the cap where the wire exited the cap.
took about 30 mins and I'm crap with electrics

Had something similar.

Mark at mtbbatteries did a good job fixing it.

Thanks for the replies folks. £45 is a bit more than I was hoping given what I paid for the light.
I'll have a look at mtbbatteries but if a repair is likely £40-£50 then I'm better just returning it to the seller I suppose. Ah well.

If you don't get any luck, send me some pics of the Y junction. If I have the correct size heat shrink, pop it in the post with an SAE and I'll do it for ya

My similar X2 repair around 1-2 years ago from MTB Batteries was around £25.
Did a great job.

Mtb batteries also sorted out mine - upgraded the cabling to a newer set up. Was that the Gloworm that had a loose connection on the battery pack?

Another vote for mtbbatteries - they fixed my X2 a few years ago. The new wiring loom they installed is much chunkier than the old one

X2 is a great light!
