Following Carpal tunnel decompression on both hands I need some more gloves for colder weather, not full winter ones just something a bit warmer with good palm padding across the carpal ligament.

I have some Specialized body geometry ones but they had holes in the fingers within a month, Castelli do some but they dont have good reviews regarding stitching coming out.

Endura Humvee have some paddding but Ive not had any Endura gloves for years.

Any other suggestions, open to non bike stuff if suitable, Ive got some mechanix M Pact gloves on order for trail building.

Fox Ranger gel are pretty good. I have some Endura, can't remember if they are humvee or singletrack but the velcro is crap and wont stay done up. It does stick to your jersey and pluck it so it's doubly annoying, thays why I now have the Rangers. 🤣

Having just had the same surgery earlier in the year I came to say humvee. Good padding but still mtb dexterity. But glove shape is personal.

However, I found that maybe 6 months after surgery I was back to using whatever gloves I wanted, so you maybe don't need ultra robust ones?

I also found that silicone grips (wolf tooth here), at the upper end of what you consider comfortable size wise, were great, better than new gloves in fact.

I always found that padded gloves concentrated the force on the area under the padding, which is usually the bit I was trying to protect. Ergonomic grips, however, spread the weight across a wider area. Apologies if you have already tried them.

Is it the gloves with padding in the middle of the palm only you’re talking about?
Specialized Grail Body Geometry as I recall?

Brilliant gloves for comfort.

They are I think discontinued but occasionally turn up as track mitts or full fingers NOS.

if you’re existing ones are still wearable I’d keep on with them and chuck some fleece gloves over the top.

And keep an eye out for NOS.

My specialized gloves are sport gel BG I think. Ive got thick comfy grips Oury slip on & Spank single lock ons which have a cutout section of the plastic sleeve, they work really well and will try some OneUp thicks when they come back in stock. Had ergonomic grips before after a broken hand and Im not sure they will help, when having a few rides between the left & right hands being done I was consciously riding holding the bars nearer the fingers to minimize pressure on the palm, but its a bit unnatural. Same with inner / outer gloves, too much slippage rather than grippage. Will hopefully get back to whatever normal gloves by spring.

The Endura ones have good padding but the velcro is crap, tiny and not very sticky so it just comes undone all the time

I think gloves are a ver personal thing, do I think the recommendations you get h including imine) will be very subjective,

For gloves with more padding (such as an uplift day), I use Fox Dirtpaw. For my every day rides, I use Fox Ranger.

I'm operating 2 pairs of the Endura Humvee. Purchased (a year apart) as a 'forced' / stress purchase when in the Highlands and finding I'd left my normal Giro gloves in Derbyshire (dooooh).

Despite my great reservations on Endura (c/o  appallingly shiiite customer dis-service from them on a defectively manufactured waterproof), they are OK so far. (My previous Endura gloves a decade or more ago on a 'gloves amnesty' at Sleepless  were truly badly made and fell apart in months).

The best I've had are some real leather fingerless 'monaco' ones from Giro. They have to be looked after a bit ( hand wash and gentle dry, not the washing machine !). But great for comfort and the gel pads in them.  Wish they'd do a full fingers version.

Those are Specialized Grail and they're brilliant ime. They have a pad in the centre of the palm which flattens the contact surface and distributes pressure more evenly. Work great for me and, as above, though no longer in production, can be found on eBay and some online retailers.

I found lavishly-padded gloves counterproductive. I had a pair of the Giro mitts made by Elastic Interface, the chamois manufacturers which I bought in the sale and they were horrific - numb hands in minutes. I eBayed them after one ride. Clearly that can't be the case for everyone, or they wouldn't have loads of positive reviews, but for me they were hellish.

I've got the fingerless Spesh Grail BG gloves and like them. I get issues with dead fingers, partially to do with CPS and partially to do with other stuff!! I seem to have crap nerves through my neck and shoulders. Probably poor posture and putting too much weight on my hands when riding....Cracking my neck actually releives the numbness in my hands.

I actually prefer gloves with no padding, as padding in the wrong place just makes it worse. The Spesh Grail ones seem to be good though for me. Especially on the road or XC bikes.

I bought some Pearl Izumi ones that have similar padding and again the fingerless ones on the road bike seem ok but I was wearing the full finger ones the other night on the MTB and they really didn't work. Actually saying that, my fingers didin't go numb but the padding just got in the way of actually holding the bars properly and was off putting.

Aldi have bike stuff in this Thursday I believe - I found they're gloves to be as good as any big brands, and they usually have cushioned varaints.

Any GripGrab gloves with 'Dr Gel' on them might be worth a look. I have a few pairs for different applications and all seem to last fairly well. I think Wig Reaction still do a variety of styles.

Had a look at the Aldi gloves yesterday, XL were way too small. Found some Pearl Izumi ones aswell so seems like enough choice for a payday decision.

I've used the Specialized Grail mitts underneath a warmer non padded full finger glove
