Gypsy Glen is one of the best known natural routes in the area.

Loads of stuff available, up and down the valley - also don't miss out on the routes around Yair and Peebles.

When are you looking for?

This is a good natural XC route from inners

https://www.strava.com/activities/134040428

You can do what you like once you climb back up to the inners red route from the road, I did a mix of trails but you can just do the rest of the red route for ease of not getting lost if your not familiar with the area.

Basically you climb up the innerliethen red climb, pop off the back onto the SU way for a bit then do a loop, climb back up to much moor again and then rejoin the red and finish it.

Cademuir Forrest is going to be closed for tree felling till end of July I think, best stay away from that part I'd say.

From Forestry Commission Scotland:
"The tree felling works at Cademuir Forest are starting today and will be ongoing until the end of July 2015 (7 days/week). The area being clearfelled is the Cademuir Hill part of the wood (roughly from the summit down to the middle road) so the 2 natural mtb descents (used in the K&Q) from the summit won't be accessible and much of the Pilots Trail walk will also be closed for the duration of the works. Access up from the Owl carpark will also be restricted. These closures are for the publics own safety - the harvester has a ~200m chainshot risk zone and ~100m risk zone when felling the trees (and they are big trees up there) - the impact of being hit by falling tree and also chainshot can kill. We've marked the mtb descents and the contractors are going to do their best to avoid damaging them but this will be harder to do for the descent off the back (heading down towards the quarry) which is on steeper slopes."

If you don't book a pro-guide (try Ridelines for one), happy to show you some routes if you are here for a w/e.

gladhouse reservoir, bowbeat hill and then continuing south down through the actual glen tress is great with some big descents and climbs. some interesting and very remote stuff around the moorfoots as well.

pretty unpopular / unfashionable but i love it.

jimmon2008

I'd just go on Strava and then 'explore', depending on how Gnarr you are - plenty of routes from plain XC through to DH with a load of trails/endure in between.

Happy to show you around for a day though, email-in-profile.

I too will be up there for the last week in april and would be interested if someone would be willing to show is around or some gpx routes.
I know a bit of stuff round Yair and have done Gypsy Glen but I would be looking for something a bit more challenging. 🙂

Go the golf course side at Innerleithen. Mucho steep fun to be had there and some superb trails. Plenty to chose from!

Massive spectrum of trail types between the likes of Prospacker/the Golfy and Gypsy Glen!

Are the trails relatively easy to find?

Up Inners, along to Three Brethren, down Corbie Linn, round Duchess Drive, up Minch Moor Road and down Inners. Job jobbed.

If you go the right way and keep you're eyes peeled you'll see lots of trails diving in to the trees. Higher up is two crackers too. You'll see the exit points on the way up.

Golfie is Caberston, Cademuir is nearer Peebles and you would never know it was there unless you went looking for it.

I think the OP was after ROUTES, not trails. The mass of downhill trails around golf course, cademuir, inners are winch up the fire road, hit the steep stuff hard, repeat, not bike routes.

Cycle up to golf course at Caberston, turn right at the forestry gate, climb the forest road, left at first fork, right at second, and look for trails 🙂

GPsies has loads of routes folk have uploaded. Both the XC type and the steep stuff mentioned above. Dunno if this link will work as I'm on my phone, if not they're easy enough to find on the site.
