Insider knowledge required.

I'm heading to Glasgow from London tomorrow for a few days and have been planning a trip to Glentress & Innerleithen - however the 7 Stanes websites says there is snow at all levels with icy patches.

Before i bother sticking my bike and gear in the car can anyone let me know if the trails are actually ridable or if riding them in these conditions is daft. Bearing in mind i've ridden both trail centres (red & black routes) a few times before and am quite an experienced rider.

Any help from local riders would be great.

Cheers Dan

I was at GT today, there is a couple of inches of snow at the start but increasing to between 4-8 inches on exposed areas by Buzzards nest and beyond.

Its ridable but dont expect to get round the Red or Black without a lot of effort.

I look out on to GT from the other side of the valley and have about 8" of snow here.

Andy, the ranger, just posted this on the FB page 'Glentress trails update as of Friday evening: 2-3 inches of inches of snow at the Peel trailhead, getting icy in places by late aft. About 6 inches of snow lying at Buzzards Nest car park height, in the open bits, less under the trees. Frost forecast overnight. Hello winter!

I'm going to pop over tomorrow as I've nothing better to do but I wouldn't recommend coming all the way from London.

depends if you are looking for that perfect "tail centre experience" or a few hours out on the bike in the country I guess.

Cheers guys

better put the bike back in the shed then... bugger!

Very much appreciated. Will be in the area anyway so will need to find another excuse to dodge shopping with the outlaws in Princess Square.

A few hours in the country away from the Outlaws really!

Still tempted - if only to get out of the house for a few hours.

Itnava - its a Pace RC405 with 150mm DTSwiss forks - plenty fat enough for 10kph through the snow 😉

If you are still about next week that it will be better as the forecast is to get warmer next week.

we really don't need warmer up here, we want colder to firm up the ground.
