You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Family holiday on Skye next week, weather looks surprisingly amenable!
I need to keep legs ticking over on the MTB, could do a wee loop from Broadford over to Boreraig and back, but if I was feeling ambitious I could get up at crack of dawn and do a 60km Sligachan loop. It looks relatively hard and rocky trackbed rather than squashy and wet, but is it too rocky for decent progress or mostly rideable? Don't have time for a hike-a-bike epic, more's the pity 🙄Â

Edit: should have checked Strava, looks like a fast time for the length of the glen is between 1hr and 1hr 15min (apart from the very suspicious looking 47 minute KOM! 😆) That's sort of 'technical singletrack' pace on the gravel bike at least so I guess not too bad. The rest of the 60km is mostly tarmac but I think overall would be a 4hr outing. Might be a bit antisocial for a family holiday 😖Â
It would be horrid on a gravel bike. Really stone/baby head rock type stuff, loads of water bars at the start, etc. Over numerous goes, I've come to the conclusion that there and back on a full suspension bike is the best option rather than round the road to get back.
Ignore, my edit showed up after all.

Interesting, a there and back from the car at Sligachan, coffee at Slig then back to accommodation might be the best way. No full suss unfortunately but the 29er feels like a full suss compared to the gravel bike...
As above, my favoured Glen Slig is out and back, with the fatbike.
The loop means riding the horribly busy main road, dicing with tourists. Strath mor is a boggy shambles.
The trail is not flowy, or at least it wasn't when I rode it last, but I quite enjoy the challenge of riding as much as possible without dabbing.
Did the loop bedmaker describes probably around 20 years ago. The second half was not worth it - bog and road! You could climb up at the end of the Glen - the views are stunning, then head back.Â
I rate the ride from Sligachan to Camasunary and back, done it quite a few times, last time on a 27+ full bouncer was very enjoyable. Not for a gravel bike unless you are a snake.
I have ridden the out and back twice and have really enjoyed it both times. From what I can remember almost all rideable but lots of snake bites (pre tubeless) for some members of the group.Â
Did the there and back a while ago and don't recall anything other than water bars on the way up. Not that there's anything wrong with the ride, it just paled in comparison to walking the cuilin ridge the day before, Torridon Classic the day after and Cairngorm/Macdui the day after that

Oh to be 46 again
I found the Slig path to be an exercise in frustration on a bike.
If I were to repeat it I'd run rather than cycle and then I would take in the Sgurr na Stri route to Loch Coruisk, round to Camusunary and back.
It is frustrating @scotroutes. Not flowy in any way. I keep asking myself why I do it every time I do ride it. A full suspension 29er made it less frustrating.
