Could be wrong but I think they've more or less ditched the original red and started again? It looks pretty much completely different.

The black is pretty nasty, I usually love that sort of thing, chattery rocks and steppity steps but it's just so incessant I always end up totally on the defensive and don't really enjoy it.

Try riding it a bit more playfully Northwind

Ps. tracks a LOT easier now than it was when originally cut in (as opposed to built)

They both look pretty good I gave on the black route video though, I don't want to watch a video of people pushing.

Go back and rewatch. First run down is a recce then mctrail rider does full runs himself (with no pushing)

Was up there in June, Glencoe is weirdly schizophrenic, the Red is a bunch of fun, dead easy, but the black is just bonkers. (especially on a trail bike ) it's loose, it's bloody steep, and there are loads of full on features. Luckily* for me it was pretty windy so skipped the huge jump at the end

* Not, repeat; not an excuse at all. Not a bit of it...

Good vid, doesn’t give you any idea of how mental steep the DH is though. I rode it in 2010, before the red was built. Got down a couple of times before a cracked rib stopped play. Never been more scared riding my bike, even my shoe tried to make a bid for freedom after a crash or two...

Wonder how many will be caught out by this on the red?

yep, that would be me on the first run down it! Some of the jumps on the bottom of the red land pretty much where you need to be turning to make the corners as well...

I've not ridden the DH there for over 10 years. My local at the time was Dunkeld, and even then the Glencoe track was brutal in comparison. Don't think I've ever had so many crashes in a single run!

Wasn't there an issue with on DH event, or maybe practice, that had to be stopped as every available ambulance in the Westrrn Highlands was either on the scene or already on the way to hospital?

Anyway, there's a little yellow sign near the bottom of the chairlift that says "DANGER BIKE TRACK". Every time I see it I think "DANGER BIKE indeed."

Rode the black about 5 years ago before they allegedly calmed it down a bit, it was ****ing nuts!

Felt like a big step up in gnar, and for reference i'd spent the previous 2 days riding the WC track at Fort William.

I'd wondered why nobody was riding it when I went up the chairlift...

Failing to squash the jump...

I've ridden tonnes of steep stuff all over the world but a wet run of Glen Coe black is the only track that actually scares me. It's not too bad going round stuff like matey is in the video but if you want to actually hit the drops, although they are small, the landings are tiny, steep, rough and slippery in the wet

He does ride it all, but in second runs later in the bid after the first recon runs.
