Ray the main builder at Glassie is posting on Insta saying that the bunkhouse owner has started to trash and close trials on bunkhouse land (most of the new ones!).
Very sad to read as there was so much good stuff going on there.
Hopefully differences can be resolved but be aware if you're heading up that some trails may not be rideable.

Surely the bunkhouse dude is shooting himself in the foot as biking must have given him lots of increased business over the last few years?

If trailforks is anything to go by it isn't great news. Signs on certain trails saying they were build on private ground without permission. Also noticed that he's gone very quiet on the social media front, after previously posting loads of updates. OTOH I know a couple of people who were there last weekend and had a good time on the trails that dont appear to be affected.

Fingers crossed

Forum is doing weird things again so can’t see if I already have a post here. This is what has been put on Insta, seems like a complete breakdown of the relationship

So... what's the big picture? They were building trails with permission on the bunkhouse land and now the bunkhouse guy has withdrawn that and is destroying the trails?

Gives the bunkhouses view of things. Tldr they can only get insurance for blue trails on their land.

Messy that the bunkhouse are asking for donations at the same time as the proper trails asking for donations

Looking at the bunkhouse page, it looks like they are asking for donations if you park in their car park, which is fair enough IMO.
It’s not a great situation but if they can only get insured for blue trails, then what are they supposed to do? I always thought having Dreamline open to Joe Public was a disaster waiting to happen.

Supposedly the insurance thing is a load of bollocks. The bunkhouse guy was trying to charge £3k a year for litter picking and it kicked off from there

Latest update, not good:

Having no skin in the game it could be read as. The bunkhouse is losing carpark capacity, providing toilets and having to provide litter picking and insurance. Their website seems pretty reasonable they aren't banning bikes, they aren't controlling the boundary or anything like that just trying to make it work for them.

And on the otherside the bike park has gone full socials... Always a great way to handle the situation...

Agreed that I feel there is another side to the story. There are various things that don’t seem to add up e.g. why flatten a flow trail, rather than just tame any parts necessary, if wanting to keep riders coming? Communications between parties have definitely broken down

Charge who? The guy that was doing the trail building?

Yeah, or whatever you can class the bike park as. Sad end to what should’ve been a useful partnership -

“This all started off with him wanting 3k a year to litter pick! Then the demands got ridiculous!

Don't be fooled by the it's all about insurance crap.”

just went looking for an update and found that the instagram page has been deleted. Anyone been up recently, or has any idea what’s happening now?

Watch an update on instagram at the weekend, so must just have been taken down. Gist of it was there would be no more trails on the bunkhouse land and the build team were looking for land near town that could be used for new trails. Relationship with Forestry Scotland is ongoing, so I’d assume that the the trails on that land are still ok. Also talk about developing a pump track in town.

Hi, does anyone local or has visited recently know which trails are still open? I know that Shredo has gone, but are Blue View and Purple Haze still intact? I’m heading up to Aberfeldy in 2 weeks and debating if I bother taking the bike or not. Stayed in Aberfeldy the same time last year and really enjoyed the trails at Glassie for a blast in the evening. Thanks for any info.

Edited to add I’m not on Facebook or Instagram so apologies if all the info is on there already!
