I own a nice orange five rs 2015, But at moment i haven't been able to use it as much as expected due to other time consuming commitments.

In the few spare hours I'm finding free a week i have been doing my house up but I'm looking to do some snazz ball upgrades to the orange beast while i have plenty of coin rolling in (from my other time consuming commitments)

The bike is a good spec already but i was thinking of making it even better i love to turn heads. what upgrades have fellow five owners gone for?

Hard to suggest unless we know the current spec.

Looks pretty bling to start off with to me. If that were my bike and I had money burning a hole in my pocket, I'd probably go for Hope Tech 3 E4 brakes.

Pretty high spec already IMO. 🙂

I'd spend the money on paying someone else to do up my house and then go ride the bike as it is.

the saddle is quite narrow, do you have narrow sit bones? my 11 year old son uses a bel air 2.0.

If the brakes are working then I'd not bother doing anything with them and TBH nothing else would make much of a difference. You'd be buying things for the sake of it.

I would probably get the shock tuned

Wow...already sounds tricked...if it were mine the brakes and saddle would be changed as would the stem for a Thomson but that's just cause I have a thing about them (have one on all three of imply bikes).

Oh yeah Thomson seat clamp 😉

An hour in, and 11 replies later, I was beginning to wonder if this really was STW, and BINGO!!!!, we're back to normality 🙂

These threads should have a mandatory pic of the bike..
Anyway the bikes old, sell it and get a new one.

Serious note upgrade the brakes.. 2nd thing I would upgrade is the rear shock to a CCDB CS, although I am interested in how the new fox X2 compares on a 5..

New X2 with a climb switch/PP switch would be my choice 😉

Brakes can't stand elixers, and maybe wider bars?

Failing that a whole load of uplift days, trips away, etc.

I'm with maxtorque a week in the Alps.

But if it were my bike the brakes would be going & either RSC Guides or my preferred choice new XTR's.

The real biggy would be the wheels though, expensive but what a massive improvement & huge daft grin on my face when I put some Roval Fattie SL carbon wheels on, 1 year in & they have been superb & tyres seal with a track pump, the 30mm internal width spreads the tyre out & a real positive feel in grip as the contact area increases.

Stick some RS Guides on there (RSC or Ultimates) they are so much better than Elixers.

Those Orange Strange grips don't last long. Renthal super tacky or kevlar (other decent grips are available) would certainly be an upgrade on your hands contact point.

Riding holiday and/or skills session. Invest in the rider not the filing cabinet.
