One for a local really, I'm fancying heading somewhere a bit different for a ride this weekend and given how wet it is currently figure something trail centrey may be sensible.

I wondered what the situation at guisburn regarding unofficial trails is. I'm happy enough following my nose to find them and extend things a bit as I plod round the official route but (given the weather especially) not keen if it's a point of contention and or they're regularly blocked.

A quick look at tf shows nothing beyond the waymarked stuff which suggests to me its not tolerated or encouraged by FC locally but figured someone might have a better idea than my guess work.

Cheers

Tjere are a few bit not that. What day are you going? I'm stuck outside a flooded Annan at the moment but have an orienteering map for an event i organised a couple of years ago that I can send you. The route includes some off piste stuff.

It'll probably be Saturday as the weather looks properly rubbish Sunday, that said I've a suspicion that in practice there may be a lot of housework to put the kibosh on any such extravagances on either day.

Much as a bit of "ohh I wonder where this goes" is always fun, if you've a map you don't mind sharing it never goes amiss to have one thank you - I've popped you a pm.

Not sure how much unofficial there is these days but the map on the site is a bit out of date as it doesn't show Long Way Down or the new start to Swoopy.

I think the old DH track is still ride-able to the bottom and continues on from Leap of Faith and joins up with the end of Log Ride. At the top of Leap of Faith there was always some cheeky bits dotted about too, as well as further off piste further down the fire road, before marker 25 but with all the felling I imagine they're gone?

The red past Hully Gully has become the loop back up so you can ride both Hully and Long Way Down without going right back round.

Always an option of course but I'm less after "ride this bit" than, "yeah it's fine there's no trouble with the fc" or "fc don't like to share".

Anywhere at gisburn after all this rain will require a dry suit. Even the normal trails are always littered with monumental quantities of puddles.
