IMHO you should start at Tosside, and do the full loop. Then go round the top loop again. The bottom bit is OK, but not a patch on the top loop. Tosside has a pub, cafe and (free) bike wash.

What's gone in so far is very good, but it's only phase 1, so there are still plenty of forest road sections inbetween.

Bonj, Went for the first time on Sunday and to be honest wasn't really looking forward to it but, and it is a big but, had a really great time. The weather was crap but the place held up really well the only part that was a little sketchy were the big berms and they were still massive amounts of fun.

If you don't mind the drive its very good

Sam

Anyone know where I can get a map for it please?
Couldn't see anything on the Forestry Commission site.

Or is it well enough signed? If so, where is the start?!

Ta.

You called?

Bigger map here.

Smaller map here.

There is signage around the forest which will get you around the loop (still waiting for the new signage).

The map starts at Cocklet Hill carpark but you can do it from the pub in Tosside as well, just visible on the right hand side of the map.

As for whether it's worth a little drive, yes. Worth coming back regularly as well as there should be new bits openning fairly regularly (volunteer bits etc., talking of which, Scott if you read this did you get my emails about the extra dig days?).

Having tried both starts it's probably better to use Cocklet Hill and drive to the pub afterwards...

See "Cocklick End" half way up the map on left as spotted by Hora :o) My 3rd favourite place name!

The stone pitched staircase is my favourite bit.

And mine. There's another pic of it in the MBR article, which still doesn't make it look as steep as it seems. I haven't actually had the bottle to ride it yet 😳 , but after Ed-O's session next month, who knows? 8)

It all looked ready last week, just roped off. Looks a lot better with the big loop lining you up before the drop.
