Giro Montaro discontinued?

Looks like the Giro Montaro has been discontinued sadly. It was the best fitting helmet I have tried and the light mounting system was great too.

Anyone bought a XL when they were selling them cheap they don’t want/need anymore? Saw they were selling them off but forgot to get one to put away till needed and when I remembered they were all gone.

Nothing in their range now looks comparable so anyone got any other recommendations that come in bigger sizes and a good light mounting system?

Is the Montaro II not fit for purpose? I went from one to the other happily. Light mount very nice.

That’s what they have discontinued I believe. It’s not on the new Giro website, it seems they have updated their range and not included it for some reason

Oh right - huh. It was there when I looked this morning. Wonder if I was looking at an overseas / dodgy site?

It'll be a shame if so - the Montaro is a great helmet.

EDIT: Hang on, thinking about it, mine (ordered directly from Giro a couple of months ago) was 50% off. Never stopped to ponder why, but now it makes sense.

EDIT 2: Sorry, the above edit seems like I'm gloating.

If you’re not able to find a Giro, I have a brand new Urge All Air in white, which fits very similar to the Montaro.

Boxed & brand spanking new with tags, size L/XL (57-59cm), but fits slightly large. £42 posted. Same as this:

I was wearing a Giro Chronicle which fits great. Tried POC and the shape didn’t suit my head. Found the Specialized tactic fits great - just like the Giro. Weirdly the Spec Ambush (next helmet up) totally didn’t fit well. Different shape entirely.

I bought a Giro Radix in the sales recently to replace my old Giro Fixture. I like the Radix and find fits similar to other Giro helmets I've owned.

The Giro Source looks like the closest/replacement to the Montaro but the peak seems shorter and it doesn’t have the light mount which are two great features of the Montaro that I really don’t want to move away from. At this time of year the light mount especially is invaluable. I know the fit is great too which I’m not sure on other options.

I bought a Source pad kit for my Montaro MIPS and the pads are exactly the same. I suspect internally they're the same thing
