I have an old Atura gilet which is a little too big for me so ordered their Airstream gilet the next size down (XS) but its huge! Bigger than the old small.

Any recommendations for a race fitting gilet in a light colour with at least one pocket?

Gore everyday vest is nice and fitted, not spray on but not at all baggy. Great bit of kit. Not the cheapest but i wear mine loads for riding and running. <br /> https://www.gorewear.com/en-uk/everyday-vest-mens-100997?variant=13874&xcmp=Paid_Shopping_Google-Ads_UK_13874&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA1MCrBhAoEiwAC2d64ZfDiLJd5ibXSusTNxqMrl06quYDuzcQQq9JozXcVj1g7fqyVFi3GRoCWIQQAvD_BwE

I have one of these, good fit and has been ideal combined with a gabba and arm warmers on cooler autumn days. https://www.galibier.cc/product/zoncolan-foul-weather-cycling-gilet/

What type of gilet are you looking for?

Hate to say the name but look at Rapha, they do gilets from just windproof to warmer insulated ones, and the sizes (especially some of the pro-team options) are v small.

Chapeau have a sale on their winter kit and the gilets have pockets. Not sure if the grey or blue will fit your light colour criteria but at least they aren't black.

Ideally a windproof one that can be folded into a back jersey pocket.

I don't have one, but Victory Chimp do a bright coloured packable gilet with rear pockets.

Alpinetrek own brand Stoic. Bargain price in small.  My medium fits like a normal medium.  Not the slinkiest race fit but I can overlook that at the price. Plus an extra five pounds off (pays for the postage) if you sign up for e mails (and then unsubscribe).

DHB ones in the Wiggle sale. I always considered them to be a budget brand but all the DHB stuff I've vultured up in the last couple of weeks has been top notch, and it's cheap. No pockets, but presumably if you want to stash the gilet in a pocket you already have pockets and does anyone really need two layers of pockets?

Castelli Perfetto ROS, packs small, close fitting, and just works. Plenty of places have them on sale

Echo's my thoughts, but the man wants pockets.

The alrura one i thought would fit has a zipped pocket on the front. Perfect for keys or a snack.

No pocked isnt a deal breaker but would be nice to have a ziped one.

Still no luck finding anything that fits. Other than ones for £180 but im not spending that on a gilet. £60 max. I really like the design of the Altura one with a windproof front and mesh back but its just so big, even in XS.

Any other suggestions? Needs to be a light colour for visibility on dull days. XS or even XXS if its not a race fit. Im 36 inch chest and 27 inch waist.

Mrs_oab has a Pearl Izumi barrier zephyr convertible that's very well cut and trim.

Might need to hunt for one/reasonable price as Pearl Izumi seem to be rare in UK these days.

I've never had one. Never seen the point of a jacket without sleeves. Just wear a tank top???

@fasthaggis I had seen those Monton ones before, they look smart and apparently have a distributor in Glasgow so hopefully aren't just shipping direct from China 🙄

I can just never tell if a gilet is going to be stretchy/non-rustly thin softshell, or lighter, more plasticcy and rustly windproof shell. Disappointingly my Rapha Core gilet is the latter.

A gilet is a great thing to have on cold days when its likely to warm up a bit during the ride. The windproof front and breathable back works well. A jacket is often too warm and too big to be packed away in a pocket.

The Monton gilets looks like a good option. It says Asian sizing and to go one size larger than usual. Does than mean one size larger than one size larger thn their size guide suggests? Or that their size small is really an XS but their guide is accurate?

I have best of both worlds - one where arms zip off and cover a big mesh back panel. Warm everywhere when needed, much less sweaty when needed, warm front, breathable back.

Is it not too loose round the shoulders with the sleevs off? Most gilets have elastic round the shoulders for a snug fit.

Nope seems snug - I don't get flapping.

That said, I'm 'sturdily' built and the jacket is a touch snug.

It's a Tog24 cycling jacket.

Sleeve off:

Castelli perfetto gillet any good? Reduced to £60 at merlin. Stretchy, windproof, 2 pockets on the back, surprising warm. It will fit in a pocket but takes up much more space than my Rapha windproof one

https://www.merlincycles.com/castelli-perfetto-ros-cycling-vest-156576.html?utm_source=PHG&app_clickref=1011ly4MS7fL&source=PHG&utm_medium=Affiliates&utm_campaign=genieshopping

I have one, warm, comfy, order a size larger than normal. I'm L in most things a tight XL in Castelli and XXL in some. I'm fit ish, not race fit 😃

Is it stretchy/soft fabric or lighter more rustly fabric?

Not a cycling Gilet so when leaning forward in a chcling position the ba k eill be too short and the front will bunch up.

Is it stretchy/soft fabric or lighter more rustly fabric?

The front isnt stretchy but is fully wind proof like a lightweight waterproof. Not really rustly like a cheap rain coat at all. The back and sides are stretchy.
