Basically, what I want to know is, will these fit my VT? It has a Swinger 3-Way shock. I always thought bushes were frame specific, but these seem to be generic?
Cheers!
They don't look like any of the bushes you find on a VT to me.
The upper ones are substantial top hat shaped affairs, and the lowers are longer than those.
Hope that helps.
It's not the main linkage bushings I'm after, it's the ones that go in the shock eyes if that makes sense? I think I need to strip it and have a look.
Oh right, I see.
So those slot inside the shock eyes, and then the silver top-hats on the top and the tube on the bottom slot in those? Is that how it works? Only ever had the bike shop do mine as I couldn't get the bloody things out.
I think so aye, I believe it's these bits that wear. Rand the LBS and 'cos Manitou have no dealer they recommended either sending it to TF or doing it myself... I thought I might have a crack at it!
TF Tuned will sort you out with the right ones - they did for my Swinger 3-way. They also sell a tool for replacing the bushings that makes the job much easier.
Actually, TFT is where my LBS ordered the bushes for mine :o)
Manitou takes a 12mm bushing, I bought some from my local bearing supplier for 60p each last week... use some sockets to fit them .
I have the tool, it's very easy, but we share it between a number of us.
