So after another snake bite puncture I'm ready to go tubeless
I understand these rims are tubeless ready?
Do I need tape or is the blue tape in there sufficient?
I'm guessing all I need is the sealant and the tubeless valve and a compressor
Cheapest way to do this? as I see the stans kits is £46 which seems a bit excessive for some sealant and gaffa tape!
thanks
If the tape looks like normal cloth/plastic rim tape then it's not tubless stuff.
But hard to tell without seeing it.
It can be cheaper to get the bits separately rather tha. The stans kit.
the tape is quite thick and blue! not much to go on I know !
It says tubeless ready on the outside of the rim, which is making me think that all I need is the sealant and the valve
Google isn't coming up with much in the way of results unfortunately
Where the wheels on a full bike that came with tubes in to start with.
Even things like hope wheels still come with non tubeless tape in the box
The blue tape is not tubeless tape. You'll need either their brown tubeless stuff or Stans etc. Plus valves and sealant. HTH.
brilliant thanks for the replies,
I ordered the bike (2017 trance 1) from cycle surgery , should have come with tubeless valves and spacers for the fox forks was a bit annoyed to find they hadn't sent them.
So the consensus is a bit of tubeless tape, some sealant and a tubeless valve and I'm good to go?
any recommendations on reasonable priced stuff?
the cost of the bike and buying a new bathroom means I don't want to spend top bucks!
Very nice bike the Trance 1...i am borrowing my lbs demo bike. Very suprised at how well it rides.
FWIW I got a 2017 Trance from Cycle Surgery and it came with a roll of tape and valves to set up tubeless, plus a spare hanger and some tyre levers. The mahoosive hose they left on the dropper was less impressive and needed cutting down before it snagged on something.
The rim tape it came with was blue so it's possible they've already applied it? I don't recall what was on the rims before I taped them up, but mine are now set up tubeless with no problems.
My Trance SX came with those wheels, some blue tape and the tube less valves. Has worked fine since settings it up.
yeah loving the bike so far just need to get the suspension in the sweet spot
loving the lightness of it aswell compared to my reign 2 which became my everything bike after I sold my upgraded trance 4.
feels a lot more chuckable than the reign in the corners but that could be due to the trance being a medium and my reign being a large, also the reign felt a bit of a pig in tight switchbacks and anything but fast going
tubeless conversion is underway and looking forward to never having a snake bite puncture again!
I have a 17 Anthem and asked similar a while back. The blue tape on the wheels is just normal rim tape, remove and use Stans tape. Bike should have come with a bag with Giants own Stans tape, which is very thin and also blue, and a couple of tubeless valves, but no sealant.
thanks for all the help
going to contact cycle surgery and find out where the missing bits are!
although if it takes as long for them to send the bits.as it did the bike, then by the time the bits arrive bikes probably won't have wheels!
