I'm almost certain from reading from various sources on the web but can anyone confirm that my 2008 Giant Trance X0 has a 44.1mm internal head tube bored diameter.
I'm planning on buying some new forks with a tapered steerer if it will fit and using a Hope H cup converter.
I have tried contacting Giant direct but they point you to dealers. Rang 2 but neither could help.
The shop I'm buying the forks and headset from have said to drop it in and they will look but I have temporarily misplaced the keys to the locks that are securing the bike in the shed. I will take it in to them before I commit but they told me it won’t work on all head tubes

Anyone done similar on a trance X 2008?

Many thanks

Andy

You frame should use a 44mm internal fit headset. Using the H Cup on the bottom will allow you to run tapered forks. It will also raise the front of your bike a bit.

Fantastic thanks. I read somewhere that the H cup raises it by 7mm but it looks like it will be more. I'm going from 120mm forks to 140mm so its going to be higher anyway. I currently have a conical carbon headset cover and a few spacers which probably add up to about 50mm which is how the bike came from new so I have the option of dropping the bars back down to get a similar height as before.

Thanks again

Andy
