From memory the OD2 headset uses smaller bearings in the top race and that if you replace it with a 'normal' sized set you can run normal tapered forks?
Yes/no....
Thanks.
It's actually larger but yes you can change it and run a normal tapered steerer.
On mine I needed to replace the cup (semi integrated) as well as the bearing, split ring and top cap.
From memory it was cheaper to buy a comple FSA (Giant branded) headset from JE James than just the top.
Ok thanks chaps.
I bought a mix and match Hope headset and got my lbs to fit it. I’ll see if I can dig out the details.
You need this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/hope-pick-and-mix-headsets/?sku=5360565949 and this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/hope-pick-and-mix-headsets/?sku=5360565940. Plus a new stem.

Cheers.
If I go down the route of changing the headsets I might try a WC or Superstar angle set ones.
I thought it was OD that was special and Giant abandoned this in OD2 ???
Not sure but think they dropped the OD2 a few years ago? Bit out of touch with this sort of stuff.
Anyway mines this year https://www.giant-bicycles.com/us/anthem-x-advanced-29er-1-2013

I haven't swapped forks over but I'm pretty convinced you could... have you actually tried?
Kryton 57 I'm desperate to find some 11/4 forks sorry to butt in but i'll take the forks off your hands if they are available.
I'll PM you as well.
Yeah the forks are 1"1/4 - 1"1/2
