Hi guys/gals,

I would like to cycle to work which will consists of 8 miles, each way. 7 miles on country road and 1 mile on city streets.

There are two bikes I'm interested in (as I can get a good deal on each (£200)). First bike is the Giant Escape 3 (2014). This bike would be a size 21". I understand 21" to be a Large in Giant sizing for the Escape (do correct me if I'm wrong). When looking at sizing on the Giant website it says I'm bang on the border line between a Large and Extra Large. I'm 6' 3-4" tall and 17 stone, with a 35" inside leg. The second bike is a Giant Defy 5 in size XL. I have sat on this and it feels fine, well certainly not small. The Escape 3 will be mail order so I cannot sit on it first.

I do not know which to get. Please can you advise me?

Would the Escape at 21" (Large) be too small?
Does the Defy 5 have the better components and therefore the better buy?
Is the Escape 3 more robust and can take someone my build better?
Is the Defy 5 much faster than the Escape 3 and therefore I'd complete my journey much more quickly?
Etc..?

Thanks in advance.
