Spot the most pro bike:

New winter bike:

Small Frame has 74 degrees seat tube, and I had the set back Thomson seatpost lying around. Just added a 130 mm Thomson stem.

Teen 2's bike just built up:

Medium frame bought to replace the above, 100 mm stem and built up with my old Ultegra (waiting for FD hanger).

My nice bike

Also a medium, with 120 mm stem, as ridden to victory by Degenkolb this year.

All Defy's are nice for many reasons. The Small frame was really just an experiment to see whether I could match my Defy SL position on a size down (or just sell it on). I was surprised that it can. The handling is a little different with the longer stem and shorter wheelbase, and the 2300 groupset is functional at best. The 6600 on Teen2's bike is almost as nice as the Dura Ace that now adorns the SL.

Your winter bike needs a black seatpost. Steal it from your son's bike 😉

Sadly I don't have a set back black Thomson, and the silver stem was double the price to match (too much for this experiment). It is not possible to recreate my position without that setback. Might look for a used black post if I decide to keep it. Bike is already set up for my SKS raceblade Longs, you just weren't looking hard enough for the brackets 😛

As for size, I'm actually right on the boundary of a M and a M/L (179cm), so I was surprised that I could get two frame size adjustment. Knees are close to the TT though.

Fixed the seatpost (cast-off from a Giant Trance that now has a dropper I'd forgotten about), swapped chainset and BB because the old FSA had play. This saved about a pound in weight. Fettled the rear derailleur cable (plastic ferules were kinked so shifting was not crisp). Added the mudguards and Fly6 rear camera. Rode 50 miles on it yesterday, some at race pace on a club run.

Teen2's defy now sports a compact 6700 from the old Propel whilst I look for a replacement.
