I have a 2016 giant TCX SLR 2 with a proprietary d-fuse seatpost which is honestly a pain in the dick. I did not realise it had a proprietary seatpost before purchasing but that's my bad, There is no aftermarket options so i was thinking if i got a shim made on a 3d printer it would allow me to move to a normal seatpost?
So the diameter of the d-fuse seatpost is 30.9mm, so i was thinking if i made the inside of the shim circular and 27.2mm and the outside the same size and shape as the d-fuse it should allow me to fit a normal seatpost... can anyone see any issues with this am i being an idiot and not seeing something?
I believe Giant do a shim - it came with some new bikes.
At least you didn't spend an hour squirting lube and twisting on the saddle like a baboon trying to unstick a stuck seatpost, only to find that it's D-shaped and can't turn. It just needed a gentle tap upwards to move it.
I think that shim is just to fit a smaller diameter d-fuse, as the internal hole is still D shaped it's not circular.
What seat post are you wanting to fit?
Why are you wanting a new seat post?
Same post i use on all my bikes, PNW Coast Suspension Post.
I want to put a suspension dropper post, i have issues with my back and a Suspension posts takes a bit of the sting out the terrain.
