Just noticed, on my fairly new Anthem SX, a slight clunk when I pick up the bike around seat tube. All linkages are torqued correctly etc and bike is only a few months old, so no real wear. I can only assume it's a tiny top out movement in the shock ? Not noticeable when weighted or riding etc. It's not saddle or seat post, definitely in the suspension.

That's usually the eyelet bushings in the shock that have worn.

That happened to me on an intense tracer, no idea why. I've owned and race my current Anthem for a year and there's no movement anywhere. Sometime you are lucky, so,etimes you aren't. Change it and see if issue goes away, it's a job that'll be done quicker than you can drink the accompanying cup of tea.

Infact will ask LBS to swop them or supply as its only actually 8 rides old.
I had a wheel dish issue and got LBS to check frame alignment a few weeks ago. It was 1.5mm out, which is 'within tolerance'. Wonder if this would have an impact on bushing wear ? Still odd that it's gone in under 20 hrs of riding from new. Hopefully just a bad bushing from new ....
It's a cheap fix Iain. If it goes again, warranty the frame with Giant due to the tolerances.
The only other thing I think of is that there's some stiction in the shock and it's not returning. Unusual that though as there's over 100psi forcing it back up.
Thanks, good point, will drop it at LBS tomorrow and let them see and sort. That way easier if ends up being a bigger issue. Cheers for the advice.
You're certain the shock mounting bolts are tight? No way the shock bushing goes in 8 rides under any normal circumstances.
Yes, checked all the bolts with torque wrench..

Heading there next Saturday, same area, oakwood - about 2nd or 3rd last house. Canny wait, Lamlash is so relaxing, is the pier head tavern back open yet?.
A week of food and beer in the drift inn with a daily splash of crabbing off of the pier is a joy.
Nobeer - we were in Glendale, just at the fire station end. PHT seems to still have builders in. Good food in Drift Inn, Coast in Whiting Bay and particularly Fiddlers in Brodick. The club routes up the back of Kings Cross were riding well..
Good stuff mate, fiddlers pizza is a joy. Rumours were that the PHT was getting turned into flats, good to see that's not happening. Wetsuit ready for the pier!. 😀

the tolerance which has already been confirmed as in spec?
If it's the swingarm that's slightly out that then shock wont be seeing any extra loading. If the pivot points on the front end are out then it might as the load through the shock could be uneven.
Did you check to see if there is play at the top eyelet?
legend - thanks, useful points. I wasn't able to work out where the play was coming from, but I did check that all the pivots were properly torqued, which they were... by elimination it could be a linkage, or a shock pivot. Cheers
