Is it only Giant branded BBs that will fit . Mates is in for repair Giant branded one they have in stock won't fit they have to order one in . So won't Shimano or SRAM fit then ? Poor concern if so I think

No, you should be able to get all sorts of aftermarket to fit. of course, also depends on what cranks are running on it.
