You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've been toying with the idea of building up a 29er. Currently my idea was an on one lurcher with an X9 group, reba/sid forks and hope/stans wheels.
Budget around 1800 total.
But my head got turned by this -

Seems pretty good value for 1500 (even better value when you have 10% taken off at another mountainbike shop which I found last night)
So 1350, reba forks etc.
Ghost seem a fair new/unknown brand, not much info available on the web.
Just wondered if anyone had any opinions.
Its also a fairly weightly beast coming in at 26lbs, is this normal for a 29er?
The plan is probably to upgrade the wheels and a few other bits to lighten it. Anyone got any very rough ideas what my lurcher build is likely to come in at as a comparision?
Thanks
26lbs = weighty?
eat some pies you skinny wretch.
(apologies for any offense - i'm not well and am a bit grumpy)
£1500 on a hardtail is at the 'spendy' end - if you're happy to buy a bike off the tinterweb can't you find something with a more exotic spec?
(carbon frame, XT bits and bobs, etc.)
They are quite popular on the Continent but unlike Specialised they dont have an advertising budget on par with Africa's GDP so havent got the ability to advertise on every fifth page of every magazine and sponsor a dozen pro tour teams.
