Right I've had the 3 small black screws out of the bottom of the shifter and the even smaller silver screw and I still cant work out how to remove the case in order to thread a new cable. Any ideas?

If you look by the shift leavers,on the main body of the unit, there is a black plastic slotted screw plug. remove this and release tension on cable with the shifters. you can then just slide the cable out, no dismantling needed!

Cheers only realised this after I'd had the entire unit apart. Ended up breaking one of the shifter window indicators so removed them both. Nice of Shimano to include the circular caps tucked inside the removable windows 🙂

"think of the weight saving!! "

think of the fact you can now run your brake levers inboard of the shifters and get a good 1 finger
braking position 😉
