More dietary advice for endurance athletes is very general - I was involved with a long-term study at St Mary's Medical School that found that you didn't need as much calories as nutritionalists think, particularly as you develop your economy. Also, shorter high intensity efforts are effective fat-burners just as much as low-intensity. Stopping yourself from pigging-out post-ride helps.

As I mentioned, I've maintained a net balance. Once of the changes is to ingest more carbs pre and during workout to avoid those post workout binges on crap and support the workout. That works. I still think its because I don't do the long weekend ides which are so calorie consuming that I can't make up the difference.
Of course, I shall now do as Njee says...
