I've got an older steel hard tail that I'd like to turn into a tourer. It doesn't have rack mounts and I'm not a fan of p-clips and the likes for long, heavily loaded tours. Can anybody recommend someone in the North of Scotland who could add some braze-ons and re-paint it? I'm Inverness based but I'm up and down the A9 to Glasgow quite often so someone along that journey would work too.
Ta.
I don't know if Ian Bishop at Slochd would still do that sort of thing.
Slochd really didnt look very open when i was up there a few months ago... In snow...
Similar boat but i think i'll end up diying.
I got the impression there wasn't much going on at Slochd too but thanks for the suggestion.
Anyone offer anything else? If I need to broaden it out to a special journey or sending the frame then so be it.
I may be well off the mark but a local Indy car body shop may well be able to MIG weld and repaint the steel frame.
Ben Cooper at Kinetics in Glasgow might be the nearest.
Exactly what i was thinking. He's all set up to do it as well. Don't think i'd fancy getting a garage doing it. You can get some very thin tubewalls if you adding bosses mid span. Brazing or rivnuts would be better (and easier) than trying to weld a boss in.
Kinetics, Clarkston, Shand, Harts?
