Do any of the mapping sites out there provide a way of viewing accumulated elevation by distance?
OutdoorActive just provides total elevation gain for the whole trip, which is not much help when you are trying to plan the daily distance and want to factor in accumulated elevation gain.
I think many will plot a height chart for you based on the map data. And will include a cursor to show you the height at an individual point. I don't know of any that show the height gain to any specific point though. Is that what you want, or at specific distances?
You could of course split the route down.

Yes. eg, the ability to put two markers on the map and getting an accumulated elevation reading between the two distances.
You could of course split the route down.
That is the fall back plan.
It entirely sure what you need but Plot a route has good elevation data and when you select ‘hills’ you can move along the route and see your elevation… not sure if it includes accumulative though.
I’m quite interested in what answers you get
I can’t help thinking that there’s gap in the market for a stand alone gpx tool to do this sort of thing
This claims to do it but I can’t see whether you can import a gpx file
Here you go:
https://www.c-hodges.co.uk/explorer/index.html
Just drag and drop a gpx file.
Well whichever app you use will give a different answer to all the others.
Ride with GPS allows you to do this, you can just select a segment of the route and it'll tell you the distance, height gain etc of that segment
