Hi, I got a KCNC Scandium seatpost a couple months ago, and a MT ZOOM seatpost collar. The seatpost seems to slip down though, even when I think Ive tightened the collar to the point of nearly being over tightened 😕 .

I'm thinking maybe the collar doesn't have the strength to keep that surface of seatpost in place (the shiny black finish, like a Thompson post). I'm thinking about getting a nice quick release collar but don't want to get one and realize it still doesn't hold.

Any ideas / suggestions?

Buy some carbon paste and use it on the post in place of grease, if that doesn't work it's your seatclamp 😉

I had the same problem with a Thomson. Took it out, cleaned it to remove some of the grease, added some toothpaste to the post around the clamp area and it hasn't slipped since.

Cheap: hairspray.
Less cheap: Hylomar, which is a wierd non-setting gasket compound available from motor shops, bit like a cross between soap and candle wax.
Less cheap still: Carbon paste from your LBS.

If none of these work, maybe your seatpost is the wrong size.

Carbon paste - its the correct tool for the job; anything else is a bodge.
