Finally think I am going to take the plunge and go 1x10. Just wondering what chainring bolts I'll need? I have a 2x10 SLX M675 crank that I will be using.

I had the 3 ring version of the slx cranks and I needed short chainring bolts, I also needed to sand down the inner tabs for chain guide clearance.

I'm considering going 1X10 and using a narrow wide ring up front.

I have an XT double chainset so wondering if this will work well due to chainline.

Is it best to use a triple chainset and place the ring in the middle position, or should I be fine with a double and ring in the outer position.

I have a m675 and used the same bolts as they came with for my RF NW and also have a triple XT that I use on the inner with a Work NW and both work fine

If you're using a bash then your existing bolts. If not then you'll (logically) need skinny single ring bolts OR 4 washers/spacers that take up the stack. If you're going narrow/wide and not using a guide then don't touch the inner rings tabs on the chainset. Even if you are you might not need to file them down.

Single ring will work on double chainsets.
