...you can all thank me later.

Just fully winterised my bike, as I'm assuming we'll haveev another wet one like last year.

Rebuilt an Alfine onto a wide 27.5 rim, fitted mudhuggers f&r, and a full strip and regrease of bolts and cables.

Cue a beautiful dry spring then 😉

That will do it I just bought a smart trainer so the weather should change any minute now. Although looking outside I have a good excuse to use it today.

I think the final decider is with me as after sliding all over the place last week I'm contemplating taking off my Rocket Ron / Racing Ralph combo and fitting the Maxxis Beavers currently hanging up in the shed (i.e. mud tyres).

Currently veering towards not bothering and just keeping the Ron&Ralph on, so a muddy slop-fest is most likely.

I fitted my ice spike Gravdals to the 29er wheelset just before the chilly week or so we had on the south coast recently, my dilemma is what to replace them with, because that chilly spell has been over for a week and I'm not quite so lurgified today...
Back to 38mm Marathon Cross
Give my old 35mm (but measure small) Vittoria Randonneur Pro another try and play more with pressures, strangely low max pressure of 70PSI for their size
28mm Vittoria Isotech G+s I bought for the road bike, but didn't really like them, felt draggy
Throw the rear fat wheel with 4" Jumbo Jim on and swap front 29er to 2.35" G-One

... First world tyre combo problems! 😆

If only...

It's been either torrential rain and snow and/or 40mph wind here the last couple of weekends, I'm trying to hit 2000 miles on the mtb this year and it's not going well so far... In January I did over 100 miles. So far this month, bugger all.

With 2.5 weeks of winter left, I’m sure glad my STW peers are beginning to winterise their bikes ha ha.

If anyone needs me, this helpless optimist is in the shed removing mud guards.

Well it worked...in the SW at least!
Hasn't rained properly since I put on the guards, and after my last ride I didn't even need to wash the bike.

I have my old Kona Kula with mudX bontys on, front and back waiting in the wings for a wet March. Rather I didn't have to use it!
