I've been turning myself inside out on a local climb for three years and always been third.  Each time I think I get second, someone else beats me and I end up in third again.  But this afternoon, I did it!  Took the KOM by two seconds - off an STW regular too! Aided somewhat by the fact it's bone dry, but then the fast times are always in the dry.  To be fair, I've also got a FS now, but I've had that for two years - in reality my previous time from three years ago would probably have been pretty similar on the FS.  I've posted a few threads about it in the past actually.

Now, I know people will be queueing up to mock me at this point, wondering why I am so pleased about beating someone up a climb.  But the point is this:  I set myself an arbitrary and pretty difficult goal, and I achieved it.  This is what's important.  The fact I took nearly 30s out of my previous time from three years ago means I've improved significantly.  So it's nothing to do with beating someone else - that's not what it's about - it's about personal achievement.

So there 🙂

Do you mean in a real life "race" our on Strava mate?

Either way, fantastic achievement. I'm definitely a fan of the climbs even though they expose my lack of fitness! To get a KOM on that climb must have put you on cloud nine! 👍
