eat only junk food...

but seriously, i'm busy convincing myself i can 'convert' my hardtail into a fatter by 'changing' the frame, forks and wheels. got some big mountains and snow to ride on this winter.
anyone aware of any cheap frame/rolling chassis deals?
one-on rolling chassis fatty deal would be fine if i could afford it, but i can't, and i'm not averse to a 'minium frame.
also, i'm guessing i'd need a 100mm BB, but what other fat specific bits might i need? obv not talking about variations in seatpost, headset etc sizes.

anyone direct me to a good guide on all the fat-bike specific frame variatons such as off-set thingies, assymetric stuffies etc?

cranks, wheels, tyres, tubes, BB, frame, fork all change.

Gear shifters/mechs, cassette, chain, contact points and brakes all swap over.

seatpost/headset/cables/outers/hoses are frame dependent.

It's cheaper to buy a secondhand fatbike than converting over.

Get a real fatbike in the sales, and it's all done for you.

Sell your bits on the classiflids.

Good deals on Spesh Fatboys at the moment...

As above your better off getting a full build on the cheap.
Felt dd 70 is 999.99 - or the better spec'd dd 30 is 1300. After changing the frame, fork, wheels, tyres, bb, chainset etc it'll cost you about that anyway.

How cheap is cheap? I bought a second hand On One Fatty about a year ago which I've given a good riding and am considering moving on. Bit awkward to post though. I'm a big fan of second hand.

You could try going fat front on your existing frame?

Depends on your point of view - a worth while fat bike (IMO) would start at around rrp£999. Anything less will be very heavy with low quality parts and more than likely put you off fat bikes for life. Personaly I'd be replacing worn out bits left, right and centre after a winters worth of riding ending up costing much more when considering 'budget' wheels start at £200.
There is a reason people sell on there rrp£500 40lbs fat bikes on ebay hardly used.

How much are you thinking, and what size?. Mate's got a large Pugsley for £750.

£600 plus the inevitable faff or ~£1k for a complete bike?

I'd look for a used one, half the early adopters will be offloading there's for some newer shiner fad...

I stand corrected, entry level fat for£800 shite brakes and drivetrain, but you'd be able to ride it straight away 2nd hand reckon you should pay no more than £450 for something like that...
