Not sure if this should be in 'other' but it is bile related...
Two things broke in my life last week. My polar H7 HRM - 40 quid just over two years ago, used indoors on a turbo for a few hours about once a week (average over 12m) for the last 16 months.
It broke, I had to pay to return it, Polar sent me a bill to repair it tantamount to buying a new one. Told them to just return it, I can get a competitor model for half the price.
Gerber - Bought in 2012 for £29 and used to death, managed to break the thick driver blade trying to lever a seized brake. E mailed them, they guy just said, send me a snap so I can send you a brand new one in the post and we're really sorry the product let you down...
Polar - Shit.
Gerber - Good.
If only Gerber made HRM's...
Polars response seems fair rather than shit.
Gerber exceptional rather than good.
Gerber replaced without a murmur a Suspension multitool I destroyed. I was impressed.
Leatherman are the same to be fair. I would imagine the mark up on a £50+ branded multi-tool leaves plenty of margin for this type of customer care, its a good way of building up brand reputation
