I’ve been idly pondering what would happen if I swapped out the 29er wheels on my rail for 27.5.
I’ve already mulleted it, and to my mind it turns better and I’m wondering if going to 27.5 on the front would make it more agile. I’ve fitted a 170mm 2021 air shaft so the front is already 20ish mm higher than stock, so in theory dropping wheel size would put the front end back to its original geometry which would speed up the steering.
It sounds too easy, what an I missing?
Keeping the 29er fork?
Is the BB quite high still with the small rear wheel?
Nothing much will happen. You’ll survive.

Pedal strikes? The geometry will clearly be exactly the same as it was with both wheels at 27.5 than it was with both wheels at 29 other than the BB height
Keeping the 29er fork?
Yes

With the MinoLink in High and before the forks were upgraded it's about 8mm lower than stock.
Pedal strikes?
Generally not an issue; I can read the trail and I'm not one of those ebike riding weirdoes who hunts out technical climbs.

With the stock AC measurement, yes, so I suppose the question is what difference will the smaller wheels make?
The smaller wheels just drop the BB by 19mm and reduce the trail figure a bit.
26mm BB drop is a lot on a 150mm travel 27.5 bike - although it’s not quite as low as the last Stumpy Evo, the one that everyone said was too low.
