So, I've got one CX bike its a Vitus Energie Evo CR and I'm looking at adding another as a spare / pit bike and probably more of a trainer so I can keep the Vitus in better condition etc.

The Vitus has a reach & stack of 388mm & 547mm respectively, its set up with a 90mm stem and 30mm of spacers under this, seat tube is 540mm with 215mm to rail of exposed seat-post.

I'm looking at a Form Calver SL in either a 54 or a 56cm (seat tube lengths), the 54 has a reach of 382.3mm and a stack of 568.5mm, so the reach is a smidge shorter, the stack higher so I guess a single 10mm spacer would make it about the same as the Vitus; the 56cm has a reach of 390.6mm and a stack of 570.4mm, so the reach is about the same as is the stack.

What would you do?

Can you throw a leg over the forme Steve? Standover can be unexpectedly high on cx race bikes ime, and it's not always listed on the geo charts.

If you can ride either than I prefer 54 over 56 for a race bike. All those twisty turns.

Lad has a Calver Steve, and think it might be a 54 - I'll check tonight and see what the standover is if you want. You are welcome to try it but think we are opposite ends of the NW league map 🙂

54 cm bb to very top of seat clamp.

Top tube is fairly horizontal - just a 6 degree slope.

Measured vertically through the BB centre, top of tt is 78 cm from the floor.

8.9 kg with pedals, bottle cage and mini pump. That is with fairly light wheels (Novatec CXD),GRX brakes and drivetrain (11-40), SLX HT2 mtb cranks 36t, basic aluminium post, stem and bars.

Nice frame but totally CX, so no mounts whatsoever for guards etc.

@mick_r thanks, my current Vitus Energie Evo is 80.5cm measured the same way, currently on 38mm gravel tyres though, so maybe 1cm lower in CX mode, not overly bothered about the guard mounts etc, I've got a set of those SKS speedrockers in the shed and if I'm totally honest CBA'd riding outside in shitty weather anymore - unless its a race.

@Garry_Lager standover doesn't ever seem to be an issue I have, I have relatively long legs for my height.
