Would appreciate some help with geometry. The Genesis line up seems to have a high number quoted for standover, relative to the seatpost length and stack numbers. Some bikes I have owned or tried have similar numbers except for the standover. The Longitude has a short reach but long tt due to the seatpost angle so they obviously have their own ideas about Geo.
So are the quoted stand over numbers "real" or a measurement quirk? (I once tried a Kona with a quoted standover taller than my inseam but I had at least 2 inches of clearance so I can only assume they measured the standover where the top tube met the head tube).
Anyone ever actually measured their Genesis?
Thanks.
I have a Longitude in large and a 32" inside leg - plenty of clearance. I also have a Vagabond in medium as large was too close for comfort.
I also have a large Longitude, I'm 6'1" and the standover is fine. It's got a pretty low top tube, so unless you have very short legs you should be fine.
I have a Medium Longitude, I'm 5ft 10ins with an inside leg of approx 30ins and its fine.
Is that a 32" "bike" inside leg, or trousers inside leg?
Ever measured the atandover to see if the number they quote is what it actually measures?
Thx for the reply - ever measured what the standover *really* is?
Interesting - is that your book jammed in the crotch inseam? If so at 30" you must have a positive ape index. Ever checked the bike against the Genesis numbers?
Cheers.
Im just shy of 5ft7, 29 inch inseam.
My stable -
Vagabond - S (fit was perfect)
High Latitude - 16" (again, perfect)
Croix de fer - 50cm (fit was ok but think a 52 would have been less cramped)
My vagabond and croix de fer made way for a salsa vaya (54) which fits absolutely perfect, not really relevant but may be of help if geometry charts compared/
Hope that helps
That does help because it gives me a cross reference, thanks.
You sound like you fit bikes similar to me - is 29" inseam for pants or is it your cycling inseam?
Could you elaborate a bit on what you found cramped about the cdf? It has a bit more reach that the vagabond so I'm curious as to the difference in feel?
Thanks again.
