Just need a bit of advice please. Went out around the lake at kielder last Sunday. It was my first ride out with my new Genesis mantle 30 29er. First thing to say was I really liked the bike over the GT avalanche 1.0 I was using previously. However, I got round about 3 quarters of the lakeside way (which is about 40 km in total but the terrain is not harsh at all) then ran into a problem.
The bike would not shift into the low gear on the front and then the chain popped out and one of the links broke. I'm not mechanical so I can't really fix this myself. The dealer who I bought it from said ghey would give me a free first service after about 50 miles use. Do you think I could go in and get these problems fixed as part of an early first service?
Is it within reason to expect them to fix these problems for free? - considering I've only had the bike out once, and not on harsh terrain.
They may fix the chain out of goodwill, you may have damaged it by poor shifting.
They should adjust the shifting set up free tho.
What do you mean by bad shifting exactly?
You've got to be gentle.
