After a gravel bike, wanting steel, wondering if a Fugio.

Any owners about, how does it ride? Feel light, nippy or solid? How does it fare on country lanes Vs gentle woodland/single-track?

Cheers

I've got most of one for sale in the classifieds if you fit a medium and want to try one on the cheap. 😉

Ace, fun, comfortable, descender (and definitely capable of a bit more than "gentle" woodland/singletrack). Bit pedestrian uphill, as its not the lightest thing ever, but big (in gravel terms) tyres mean you can just keep winching when more racy setups are off and pushing. Got me through the Badger Divide and the Frontier 300 in fine style.

I'm 3 rides in on my new carbon superbike and coming to the conclusion its not as good DH!

Rides nice

Bit heavy but not more than a steel frame should be at the price

Does feel nippy with the small wheels, but not up hill (see under heavy)

Mine has exposed cable routing but I see it's internal routing now and also now has a gazillion more bosses which is handy.

Wheels weren't up to much on my 20, but again, might be better now

I had a 2020 Fugio 30, a lovely bright orange one. It was 650b with dropper as standard. Nice bike, very comfy and capable off road and on gravel. For me it was a bit heavy and wooden feeling, and lacking something feel wise. It was also quite slow on road.

I now have a Topstone Carbon Lefty, also 650b and same wtb tyres as the Fugio. The Topstone is a lot more nimble feeling, definitely faster on road and much nicer on gravel and trails, with a more connected feel. Also much better on more bumpy singletrack given suspension.

I’m underwhelmed with mine. Looks nice with the thin steel tubing but the tyre clearance with 700cc is appalling and it feels heavy and pretty lifeless.  Tried with 650b x 47, 27.5” x 2” and 700 by 35mm (that’s all that fits in the back!). Best going downhill where it can be lots of fun with 2” 27.5” MTB tyres but a drag on tarmac.

Current models take 700x40 easily if 700 is your thing.
