Loving my Genesis Flyer. The frame is absolutely perfect for me. However, on occasion gears are still needed. Especially if I want to go somewhere with my daughter on the back.
I've heard tales of a Genesis Flyer Classic 2012 - same frame but with a rear hanger and gear shifter lugs on the down tube. I cannot find one any mention of it now. Was it discontinued?? Seems a bit short lived?
I don't think it ever materialised.
Remember seeing it in last years catalogue - purple steel frame, metal cable clips.
Can't remember what tubing, poss 725?
Certainly never saw one in a shop and it disappeared from the website.
Too similar to the Equilibrium to justify a separate model?
Try te Croix De Fer frameset.
May have to make your own, i remembered these. http://www.dmrbikes.com/products/extras/chaintugs Might be useful
Edit: And these may help too http://www.theoldbicycleshowroom.co.uk/gunn--co-stainless-steel-brake-gear-cable-frame-clips-382-p.asp
Thanks for the tips. I've been looking at the CDF. Although it's a little out of my budget.
A colleague is convinced he's seen the Flyer classic in more than one shop. The search for the mythical bike continues!
I was looking at the CDF as well, ended up with a Norco Indie Drop - pretty similar spec but £300 cheaper. Couldn't be happier with it.
I have a red genesis flyer without gears 🙂
It's ace!
I have even beat my strava times I set with my carbon board man, work that out!
could you get a back wheel with a 3sp sturmey archer hub? that would give you gears and IIRC the hubs are the same 120mm spacing...
