Anyone have one or ridden one and care to share their thoughts?

I'm looking at the 2014 model with black forks which I hear had been improved from the first Ti version in terms of ride quality.

I had the steel version a few years back and loved it.

I read somewhere that Ti is a vanity purchase and there is no big difference with steel. Is that true?

Note - I have to get the bike from Evans so other Ti options aren't available.

Had only really ridden steel bikes till building an ATR Tripster up. First ride on it at the weekend and me feel like it could do so much more if I was a better rider, stunning.

Had a little test ride on the Ti Equilibrium at the LBS a while ago and it felt a lot stiffer than the Kinesis or any of the steel bikes I ride.

There are significant advantages in stiffness and weight going from a steel to a ti bike. This is based on my experience of going from a steel Equilibrium to a Ti Condor Moda.

That said, a frame being made out of titanium isn't going to automatically confer those advantages; it needs to be designed to make the most of the material as well.

If it has to be got from Evans that would suggest it was a bike to work scheme purchase? I have been told you can only buy a whole bike and it has to cost no more than £1000. Is that the case?

Yeah, C2W is a £1k limit for a complete bike. Some bike shops may find a way round that for you, that's between you, them, their accountants and those of us at HMRC if we find out......

(Not my part of HMRC, and no idea what the implications would be btw)

I think the 1000 is to do with your employer needing a credit consumer licence.

You can also use the ctw and then put cash towards the rest.
