You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I know this subject has been covered on here before, but as the Gen 7 Toyota Celica haven't physically changed, but bikes have, does anyone have any experience of the latest type of bikes in the back?
Thinking S4 Kenevo SL type size LLS 29er bikes. Doesn't seem to be an easy way of getting a rack on, and the Seasucker things are not happening.
A friend of mine has no trouble getting a large modern 29er hardtail in his gen 7 Celica, front wheel off obvs.
Know what you mean about modern bikes. I could get two 26” early 2000s mtbs in the back of my 944 (all wheels off). I can just about get a large Bird Aeris in with the front wheel off these days. Don’t think two would be possible. All wheels off or not.
Nice one, cheers.
As long as the KSL will fit the other bike definitely will.
I can get a 510mm reach trail bike in my gt86 with only the front wheel off. A Celica is significantly easier as it has a hatch
Yeah, front wheel off you can get a modern large MTB bike in.
Make sure you get the 190 version with the 2ZZ engine, and regularly check the oil!
I can get a current xl Capra in my gen 7 Celica with both wheels off.
Seems like good news. Model in question is a 190 2ZZ and has a few goodies (LSD, baffled sump, coilovers etc).
I miss that engine. It was a surprisingly great bike car as you can pretty much load it from the side because the hatch opening is so horizontal
I had one, parcel shelf was always annoying for some reason. Didn't clip in properly. Had to get rid cos of child #1 arriving. Heard bad things about the Yamaha engine and timing chains. Mine didnt last long after selling according to MOT history
That sounds perfect.
Baffled sump is a big bonus especially if it's going to be driven hard or on track.
I blew up a 1ZZ on track before. A big end bearing went due to oil starvation which is apparently caused by oil sloshing too far away from the pickup on long fast corners, particularly left handers.
I fitted a moroso baffled sump to the replacement engine which had a higher oil volume also.
I'm getting ideas now...
Going to have a look at it on Friday.
Had a look. Lovely car but had perviously been used on the track... had some damage to the bumper and air con condenser holed. Voot struts wouldn't hold the boot up, and the exhaust was a muckle loud 4" can.
It was a no from me. At least I still have the V50.
