Loading up the car for a late continental outdoors holiday. And was quite shocked thinking that we probably had about £6000 across two road bikes, £1500 of climbing gear at least and then probably a good £2000 of camping/clothing (...SO has packed 6 pairs of mountaineering gloves ffs!) all going into holdalls. It will all round around the car with us as we stay in various campsites, or leave it in French towns whilst we go climbing. We will cover the stuff/bikes with a sheet...
But does anyone have any suggestions for insurance?
It should all be covered by your home contents insurance. That would be my first port of call.
Ours is covered by contents insurance.
The bikes are even covered if we crash and trash them.
Is this not covered by your travel insurance?
Pedalcover only cover £1k of stuff in your car (plus the bikes). So by the time you have a tent, biking kit, other outdoor stuff it adds up to well over £1k of stuff.
I queried this and they said there was nothing they could do to increase the level of cover of stuff in the car.
Does anyone have home insurance that gives decent cover of kit locked in a car?
Most travel insurance policies only give a low cover for possessions, the insurance is to cover your health costs, not kit.
Yes simply not enough cover for possessions on travel insurance. Our mountaineering/climbing insurance covers none. Home insurance doesn't cover in Europe!
