My LBS is selling one at a really good price. It seemed to get really good reviews as a capable hard hitting trail bike...but I'm a bit worried about those custom forks, with a funny offset.
Basically what will it be like to ride when the forks are replaced (eventually) with normal ones. I'm guessing, shorter wheel base, twitchy. OR will there be **** all difference and just ride it?!

Hmmm?...

PS. Will it handle some Fox 160's?

I've got one and I love it, but it's still running the original forks

Anyone know what the offset is for Fox forks? Marz 55s are 44mm which is as near as dammit the same as G2 46mm if that's any use.

Andy

(Looked at a G2 26er HT but didn't buy due to fork replacement concerns...)

The bike will handle slower with a standard shorter offset fork, not faster. Shorter offset increases the trail figure which slows handling. Slacker HA also increases trail figure which slows handling.

Counter-intuitive I know but there you go!

Not that counterintuitive:

More trail=more castering effect and therefore more stability. More stability=slower handling (but also less twitchiness).

I've had a Roscoe and have a Hi-Fi Pro now.

I like G2 and it works for me - not too twitchy and not unstable, partly due to the relatively longer top tube stretching the wheelbase. Fine on bigger hits and downhills too. So stick with the supplied fork unless it's f***ed.

The issues I had with the Roscoe were more around the fact it lumbered a bit (certainly not a problem with the Hi-Fi) and I have found that current Stumpies and Blur LTs feel better in this regard.
