Hi
I'm considering getting an action camera of some sort, just for recording rides and maybe the occasional YouTube vid. Realistically, my budget stretches to £200 which would get me the new(ish) GoPro Hero. However, through an industry contact I could get a Garmin Virb Ultra 30 for half price, which is about £195. Now the Virb didn't do so well against the similarly priced GoPros, but at half price I figure it's probably going to be better than the entry level Hero.
Am I right in thinking that? Has anyone had opportunity to make a comparison? The Garmin edges it with its 4K ability, and also its built in GPS and gubbins, and also takes GoPro style mounts which opens up plenty of accessories.
FWIW, I would rather buy new than hunt around eBay for units of dubious provenance...
[stealth ad] Probably no use but I have a very lightly used boxed Hero 4 silver with a memory card, God knows how many cases and mounts etc if you’re interested? Not sure what it’s worth? [\stealth ad]
