The chromebook doesn't recognise the plugin software - is there as easy way round this ?

Will the computer not recognise the garmin as an external device.? What are you trying to do exactly.?

just upload directly from the device, rather than using the plugin.
rides are in the Garmin folder, Activities sub-folder, then organised by date.
