Evening all
I had some good help with my last problem, so here goes again sorry.
My Touring won't give me an "off course" signal, I'm not sure if this is a glitch with the software or I've not got it set up right.
In settings, I have Course Turn Guidance turned on. If you turn it off, you then see Off Course Warning, this is turned on. When I turn on Course Turn Guidance again, the Off Course Warning option is removed, but I'm assuming should stay turned on.
Anyone else get this? Any ideas?
Ta
What exactly do you want?
Sounds ok to me - you're saying that if you turn off guidance, it doesn't tell you when you're off course? Being off-course could be considered guidance, and hence not be given when guidance is off?
What I want exactly, is the turn by turn directions on, but when I go off course due to missing a turn or the unit not giving me a turn, I want the off course warning, which I'm not getting.
I dont know if you have or have used one, but they dont always give you every turn. For example, the road sweeps to the right, with a road going straight on, but the straight on road is actually a junction, you would naturally follow the road right. Now my route is straight on through the junction, but I'd instinctively follow the road around to the right. It used to give an off course warning when you did this, now it doesnt.
I have one yes. As for not knowing every turn, that's common with all satnavs. They don't always get junctions like that right.
No idea why you don't get course warnings, sorry. I'm sure I do.
Yeah, I know what you mean about it being common with satnavs in general. Its just that I used to get the off course warning, but not anymore. Its a pain when you've missed a turn, but dont actually pick it up for a few miles. I could cope with missing a turn and then being told after a 100 yards or so.
Firmware update?
Its on the latest update. I appreciate the thoughts though, thanks.
Bump for the dayshift. It seems to be going through a spell where its more problems than its worth at the mo 🙁
I never use turn-by-turn (drives me mad) but have done; it's not some sort of re-routing thing is it whereby if you miss your turning the thing goes "ah well" shrugs then routes you a different way? Just thinking out loud.
Unless you're wedded to your settings you could always just do a factory reset I guess, the most annoying features are normally made default in my experience 🙂
No, I have re routing turned off. I've just rolled back the software to version 2.8 and loaded up a route to try a bit later.
Righty oh, been for a ride and I'm not sure if its the half wit using the thing 😳
I had a play as I was riding and tried different settings, it worked as it should with the Course Turn Guidance turned off. So, what exactly is CTG then? I thought it was what gave me directions, ie when approaching a turn, it would beep and give the big white arrow and countdown/distance to turn.
So, can someone please explain CTG to me.
I'm going back to the latest version to try again.
In my defence, I've only had the thing about 2 years, so I can't really be expected to be up to speed just yet 😆
I think that's what course turn guidance does. It tells you when a junction is coming up.
I've never tried following a fully programmed gpx before, mind. That may make a difference.
I should have said before, these are gpx courses I've uploaded, sorry. I just thought CTG would have to be on for directions not off.
If anyone who uses one of these could turn off CTG and see what happens I'd appreciate it.
I'm not sure if I'm being a bit dim using mine or if its gone haywire somehow.
