Loads of folk on here must run Garmins but I don't recall seeing anything about useful extras that people have found on the Garmin IQ store. So for starters here's a couple that I've added to my 830:

Power & HR Color BG - changes the background colour of power/HR data field depending on the zone you're in, so makes it easier to read at a glance.

Simple OS Grid Reference - exactly what it says

I'd love to find a more customisable version of the Climb Pro screen but haven't found anything yet.

Ermm - how does this work? Is it just for watches, or will it work on my Edge Explore 2? Can it help me fix the limited choice of ride profiles? I suppose it won't do that though 🙁

It's an add on store for watches & many Edge models  which includes data fields, widgets etc as well as a load of watch faces.  You can download things and push them to your garmin device then add them to whatever screens you want.

But no, no extra activity profiles.

CGM Connect datafield and watch face is a godsend if you're a T1 diabetic using the Libre system.

E-Bike Edge MultiField

Up to 10 e-bike specific data fields - assistance mode, % battery, range etc.

Connects Garmin Edge devices via Ant+ to your bike - works well on my Trek.

Also records battery + assist levels to Strava so you can review your assist level % / battery use etc.

OS grid reference is good on a watch as you can get a ref when on a call to mountain rescue without swapping apps on your phone.

I've just installed one for what three words too which would be of similar use.

I've installed a couple on my devices:

On my 830:

Multi Page Race Notes, used these for adding the distances of feed stations in long races / events, also details of FTP tests.  Multiple pages and you can change the font to massive which is handy for my ageing eyes: https://apps.garmin.com/apps/7fd2480f-259b-49fc-85a7-59f8db4748fd

on my 830 and Fenix 5:

AccuWeather MinuteCast.  Bit of a faff to set up with the API key but once set up its surprisingly accurate: https://apps.garmin.com/apps/c1facb1f-db5a-4352-adf3-9dd09e6fc668

Yeah, I also have the AccuWeather app. That's my go-to weather site anyway.

In have My Bike Radar Traffic installed on my Edge 530 should I want to see any post-ride statistics on what my Varia has experienced (I rarely do).

Running Power is on my Fenix 6 for use with my Garmin Running Pod. That has some very useful data which I refer to regularly.

Me too.

I hope once more users capture such data and load it up into the cloud, then "busy roads/dangerous roads" (based on volume and speed of traffic) can be incorporated into route planning apps [though my Garmin Edge Explore 2 has an option to Avoid High Traffic Roads, so maybe Garmin is harvesting such data already...?]

Komoot is a handy one if you use it.  Can push routes straight to device.

Not cycling related but as i  normally do it on my bike I use Cacher for geocaching.

Also have a tides app that comes in handy from time to time.

Dynamic Watch / RouteCourse is useful if you use Ride With GPS to plan routes.  If you Pin a route in RideWithGPS then it appears in the RouteCourse app on your Garmin and you can download it like it was a regular Garmin course.

Other than that, I use TrailForks occasionally, not found anything else very useful.  Same goes for IQ apps for Garmins watches - only Samsung's Tizen store is more underwhelming IMO.  Oh...unless you want a new watch face, both have plenty of watch faces.....

Found another one that's been disappointingly useful over the past couple of days - Rain radar data field.

Good to know, thanks.

I use my laptop to get GPX files onto my Fenix 7. Is there another way to do this? It's literally the only thing my aging laptop is still used for as I can't get the Garmin app onto my work laptop.

If you "connect" Connect and Komoot then you don't even need the Komoot IQ app. Any routes you plan on there will be replicated in Connect as a Course and can be sent from there to your Fenix 7 when you synchronise it.

Have you installed the Connect app on your phone (assuming you have a smart phone)?

I've got Connect and Connect IQ. I use OS Maps for planning but doubt they've got anything integrated? So would happily move to a more usable planning app.

Correct, but if you Export the route you've generated in the OS app then you can Import it to Garmin Connect on your phone or PC and then it will sync to your Garmin watch/Edge. It's a couple of extra steps over and above the sort of integration that Komoot offers but not too onerous.

Tried this out today.

Even after adjusting it to the correct calories per beer I'm going to have to up my drinking game.

Pretty easy ride with less than 1000 meters climbing.

Oh you beauty. Ive been using the connect IQ app and its a bit of a pain in the backside. Just tried this and it puts the route into my garmin edge saved courses. Much better. Thanks Scotroutes
