Got an Etrex Legend which I use now and again if going way off the beaten track.. I know it's not state of the art but it does what I need, until today !!
Went to connect it to the laptop today and for some reason I am getting an error code " can't open com8 error 2 " so cannot connect to computer to import a track from M Map...
Anyone know what's wrong because I don't ARGHH !! Cheers....
This is old 9 way 'D' serial ports isn't it?
They were awful to fault find when they decided to play up
Try deleting it in device manager [then reboot] and reinstalling the driver, it may create another port that works
Check what other software you have running, there might be something grabbing the serial post. eg sync software for a phone etc.
Also try setting Memory Map to use a different COM port.
Or try using Garmin Mapsource, and see if it can detect the Etrex.
