Hi,
I've got an old, but faithful, Garmin Dakota 20. I create a route on my Ipad using OS Maps and export the GPX. When I copy the GPX to the Garmin the route doesn't appear?
I've found this website https://www.alltrails.com/converter that converts on OS Maps GPX Route to a GPX route. THIS WORKS when I copy the file!
I don't understand why one GPX route format is different from another. Can anyone explain? Is this a common problem? Are there any better bits of software. Garmin's Basecamp seems pretty useless.
Regards Wipeout
Hi
I had the same problem, OS exports gpx routes and my old garmin (map 62) can only deal with gpx tracks. If you look in the file you need to change "rte" to "trk", I think you may need fake times too. I wrote a simple program to do the conversion in perl if you want it drop me a pm I'll send it over.
Thanks for the offer of the perl script. I am happy using the website.
I mistakenly thought GPX was "GPS Exchange Format, is an XML schema designed as a common GPS data format for software applications"!
Basecamp is superb. Brilliant at creating, modifying and converting all sorts of gpx files.
Alltrails is basically the old Gpsies I believe.
I use it now and again to copy folks Strava routes.
