My old 305 forerunner is not keeping it's charge properly. 1 hour maximum. It happened suddenly a couple of weeks ago.
I have tried the soft reset and full reset but made no difference.
It is a few years old so not surprised the battery is tired.
I use it for 90% bike and 10% running.
I don't need maps.
What would be best Gps to replace it?
I was thinking 310.
Just get a new battery for it?
Could do but I think it needs to go to Garmin and might not be that much cheaper.
I changed the battery in my Edge 705 for much cheapness. Ebay is your friend.
Garmin would certainly like you to think that!
Suunto Ambit 2R, much more versatile
Try getting in touch with garmin & see about getting a fully reconditioned replacement.I'd had one for several years, got water in it & it stopped working(not a huge surprise).Cost less than £50 including p&p,3 years on it's still working fine 🙂
I've just got a suunto ambit 2 s for aroudn £160 in the sales. Has added capability of putting routes onto it and following them on screen. It's been brilliant so far
looking at ebay , i can get a battery for £8 and very clear instructions on youtube .
anyone done it ?
Suunto looks good too , can you get mount for the bars ?
They do these for you to strap the watch to. Pretty general purpose and will fit any watch (I think). I've got one from my old HRM watch which I'll use on the roadie- it stays on my wrist on the mountainbike

Yes it's fairly straightforward on the 305, just Google how to, as has been said.
You'll need to do a couple of dabs of solder, and be careful not to mess with the gold contact strip as it's very delicate.
Batteries are cheap on Ebay.
My old 305 is still going strong 18 months after repair.
thanks all .
will try the repair first .
