You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
my garmin edge 130 (3 yr old) has decided that it’s not picking up my hr strap signal.
It was saying battery low, changed battery, now not recognising it at all and that I have to ‘wake-up’ the sensor? (I have an image of john Cleese in the parrot sketch!)
In built obsolescence?
Replace strap?
Replace garmin?
Replace both?
I’m off to Spain next week and I’ll need it to accurately record all my KOM’s 😉
Try putting the battery in the HR sensor the wrong way round. apparently this will cause the Hr strap to reset.
Cheers Doc, tried that, didn’t work!
I think you need to put it on to wake it up
Have you wet the pick-up patches and worn it?
I'm sure I read on here that some batteries have a coating of bitrex to stop people eating them, and that can interfere with very low power devices like HRMs. The suggested fix was to give it a light scuff with sandpaper to get to a clean metal on metal contact.
I've not had to replace my HRM battery since reading that so can't say if it works or not but did have a strap I threw away years ago because the battery was replaced and then it just wouldn't come back to life.
Yep, tried all of those, I’ll try and pair it with a friend’s strap - at least that way I’ll find out if it’s the strap or the unit.
Thanks guys
Bloody hell - its just worked!!!
Bails you were right - there’s a sticker on the back of the battery which I didn’t realise should be removed (like the nobhead I am!!)
Feeling slightly embarrassed - thanks again!
